Since 1977, REDI Enterprises recognized the need to diversify its revenue stream, and opened the REDI Bottle Depot. Today, that depot is the largest and longest running bottle depot in the region, and has evolved into the REDI Recycling Centre, a home for the REDI Bottle Depot, an electronic waste collection site, and SHREDI.

REDI reinvests the profits into the organization, allowing us to enrich the programming we offer as well as provide competitive pay rates for staff. REDIRecycles commercial recycling pickups for primarily cardboard and office paper, and currently services over 200 businesses across Medicine Hat.

Electronic Recycling is available at the 1040 South Railway Street location for drop off. Just outside the bottle depot is an area where the public can drop off electronics to be recycled into bins. All electronics covered by the ARMA electronic waste program can be dropped off on site.

What products qualify for electronic recycling? View the list.

Please note that large appliances, furniture, tires, and all chemicals (including cleaners, oil, and paint) are not accepted.

The REDI Recycling Centre, home of the REDI Bottle Depot and SHREDI, is centrally located at 1040 South Railway Street SE.

20 million +

Originally started as a way for REDI clients to work and done in the current REDI building on Maple Avenue, REDI moved its operations outside of the main branch in 1999 and began to operate as a separate entity. REDI Bottle Depot is staffed with members of the public, and its profits are turned back to the organization.

Founded in 1977, REDI is now the oldest and largest bottle depot in Alberta south of Calgary. REDI Bottle Depot processes upwards of 20 million containers a year - one of the busiest depots in the province. The depot leverages technologies to increase efficiencies such as automating sorting and counting machinery and recently installed an automatic cash dispensing machine.
