Craig Wood has a long history with REDI. His first encounter with REDI was actually as a Job Coach for a very short period after which time he was hired an external program evaluator and worked on the evaluations of a number of REDI programs and services.

In 1993 Craig was approached to sit on REDI’s Board of Directors and he served the maximum allowed 9 years, including two years as Board Chair. After a few short years of ‘retirement’ from the Board, Craig was approached to rejoin the Board and he served another 9 years as a Board member, over the time that Craig served on the Board REDI underwent a number of challenges and transformations. He remembers fondly the inclusive strategic planning session at the Cypress Centre in 1997 when REDI’s mission and mandate statements were formulated. In 2000, Craig proudly voted with the rest of the Board to close REDI’s sheltered workshops and move to a model of community inclusion.

Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Lethbridge (where he also met his spouse, Cathy) and a Master of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University. His career includes working in Ottawa with Gallup Canada; 18 years in Student Services functions at the Medicine Hat College and a 4-year stint in the Middle East as Director of Student and Enrolment Services at the University of Calgary in Qatar.

Craig returned from Qatar in Spring 2019 and has had the privilege to serve as the Executive Director of REDI since April 1, 2019.  Craig is passionate about REDI and its mandate of enabling individuals to achieve independence, respect and responsibility.
