S.T.A.R award.
We are happy to announce a new award at REDI which will recognize REDI employees. Funded in partnership with an anonymous donor, the REDI Employee Achievement S.T.A.R. Award.
The award will be made annually and recognizes REDI employees who have demonstrated achievement in investment in themselves, their community, and the people we serve.
The recipient of the award must be an employee of REDI Enterprises Society and has demonstrated achievements in the following areas:
Investment in self: Is mindful of personal health, maintains boundaries with work activities, participates in self-care and self-development activities.
Community: Supports the community at large through volunteerism, participating in local events, random acts of goodwill
The people we serve: Is creative in their approach to service delivery, maintains ethical practice in line with REDI visions and values, inspires others to do their best work and enhance the lives of those we serve, collaborative.
The award will be a trophy and a $300 cash award presented annually at the REDI Annual General Meeting.
All REDI Employees, our clients, their families, employers, other agencies can nominate a REDI Employee for the award. Nominations must be made in writing to the Executive Director’s office using the nomination form that can be found on the REDI website. Nominations must be received by August 31.
The award will be presented at the Annual General Meeting in late September.

2025 Award Winner: Mark Risdon
Mark Risdon exemplifies the spirit of the STAR Award through his unwavering dedication to personal growth, community involvement, and service to others. At REDI, he has quickly become a vital team member, constantly seeking opportunities to expand his knowledge and bring value to the organization. Mark’s commitment to self-improvement is evident in his pursuit of certifications like First Aid, Train-the-Trainer, and Occupational Health & Safety, even when not required. He balances his professional development with a healthy personal life, engaging in activities like golf, biking, and tabletop gaming, which reflect his thoughtful approach to well-being and self-awareness.
Beyond his personal growth, Mark is a passionate advocate for the people REDI serves and the broader Medicine Hat community. He actively volunteers with organizations such as Adaptive Sport and Recreation and the Veiner Centre, and he’s played a key role in inclusive events like School Disability Sports Day. Mark’s creativity and initiative shine through projects like the REDI MakerSpace and his efforts to build strong relationships with community employers. His empathy extends to his colleagues, offering daily support and small acts of kindness that foster a positive workplace culture. Mark’s authenticity, compassion, and dedication make him a truly deserving recipient of the STAR Award.
