Brain Injury Relearning Services

Donna-Stein.jpg

Donna’s career at REDI began in 1989 in Community Services when she was hired to support a young woman who had a brain injury. In 1992, Donna became part of a small REDI team who met with people who were living in institutions across Alberta and was tasked to consider them for community living within REDI’s residential services.

Through the next decade, while developing services to specifically meet the needs of people who had brain injuries, Brain Injury Relearning Services (BIRS) grew from the Cognitive Program serving Medicine Hat and area to serving people in their homes and communities right across Southern Alberta. After working her way up through the organization, Donna ultimately became the Manager of BIRS.

Over the last 30 years, the small team of wonderful people at BIRS has supported hundreds of people who have brain injuries. Donna feels very fortunate to have learned so much from each staff member, from all the individuals and their families and for all her fulfilling opportunities working as part of the REDI Management Team.

Donna can always be found with her four-legged Support Worker, Molly the Labradoodle, who has been deemed an Emotional Support Worker for clients and staff alike and is a daily presence at the BIRS office. We cannot imagine the workplace without her to brighten everyone’s day.

Some of Donna’s education includes the Rehabilitation and Disability Training Program from Grant MacEwan College, Community Based Rehabilitation from the Ontario Brain Injury Association,

Longitudinal training from The Institute of Applied Behavioral Analysis, Registered as an Assessment Specialist from the Canadian Association of Assessment Specialists.
