REDI opens its new ceramics manufacturing business, Canada Coffee Cup, out of the 860 Allowance Avenue building. This venture began 5 years prior and after receiving funding for proper supplies and training, the vision began to come together. After the delivery and placement of the kiln, manufacturing was set to begin. Originally, the plan was to begin manufacturing simple commemorative plates and picture frames for the Calgary Zoo and then move on to more complicated products like coffee cups. However, an unexpected demand for beer steins, water cooler decanters, and souvenir maple syrup jugs pivoted the factories’ priorities.
